ALTON - The Southwest Illinois Division of United Way of Greater St. Louis has its sights on a $1.95 million campaign goal.
The target was announced Tuesday by David Braasch, president and CEO of Alton Memorial Hospital and the 2011 Southwest Illinois Division campaign chair, during a kickoff at Julia's Banquet Center in East Alton.
"Services provided by the United Way in our communities vary widely, but they each are extremely important to the people that need them," Braasch said. "The United Way is able to help people in many different areas and this is made possible by the generosity of people throughout our region because they know the money raised helps our whole community. The beauty of the United Way is that the money raised here, stays here."
